I attended the 2017 Public Lands Rally in Boise, Idaho, on March 4th, 2017 at the Idaho State Capitol. I was astonished by how easily I could access every aspect of the event. It still just blows my mind at how free Idaho is. Because I was unrestricted, I took quite a few photos. In Idaho, you can literally go into the State Capitol building without getting arrested or shot. I was looking for composition, but also emotion, if I got lucky. I found it in this little girl on her father’s shoulders. Although the background was noisy, the photo still holds its own. It was a great experience for me, and it helped me to figure out what I really wanted to photograph.
