Idaho Potato Drop, 2020

Pictures from the 2020 Idaho Potato Drop. Obvious and serious flaws in my photography, but I recognize the areas that I need to improve on. I’d like to post a diatribe about why this and that prevented me from getting better pictures, or why the lighting was bad or the temperatures were low, or whatever other excuse I can come up with, but at the end of the day, you have to own your photographs. Bad photographs aren’t evidence that you’re not good enough–bad photographs are opportunities to learn to be better. If you’re a photographer and you want to take next-level photographs, my advice it to throw yourself into the worst shitstorm you can find and then photograph humanity in it. But what do I know…I’m still taking really bad photos.

You’ll know when your photographs are good enough when people say “Oh My God” instead of “Oh, cool.” Until then, don’t stop.
